I have a very basic DVD recorder with a hard drive. This records TV progammes at very good quality. It also allows me to edit the recordings and set thumbnails. Then if I want to I can transfer the edited recording onto a DVD disk. I am sure that with a reasonably fast computer and the right TV / Video card that I should be able to do everything that the DVD recorder can do and more with my computer. There are a lot of TV cards offered for sale that claim to do some of the things that I want to do. The ones I have used so far have given poor quality recordings. Can anybody recommend a TV / Video card that they are using that would be suitable for what I want to do?
I have a hauppauge WInTv card. I couldn't say enough good things about it. If your input signal is clear you can record perfect video and sound. Your input has to be clean though. That might be your problem anyway,
mainly you will be using WinTV2000 to watch and record video, once again I think it is fantastic and couldn't say enough good about it. Go to http://www.hauppauge.com/ for more info.
These satellite tv systems are sold in Canada, and they claim that they give free digital service for life. Is this legal?
all free to air sats are legal the problem is when you download software to it then it becomes illegal but if you ask me I would rather have a fta reciever than the system I have turn on now legal and not getting half the channels as the fta reciever get.

You can just buy the software for Satellite TV for PC. There are many in the market.

I live in a boarding school in north England, and being a boarding student is always boring. I wish I can watch TV when I am bored.
I heard that it is possible to watch tv on laptop computer, can you teach me how?
In my boarding school, the internet signal is very weak. Therefore, I can’t rely on internet watching TV. Please, if it is possible, tell me where to buy the TV signal reciever and how to install it on computer.
I’ve never heard of anything like that but if you are really in need for entertainment, you could ask your parents to send you some DVD’s.
When I watch the programs on pc with DishNetpc tv software, can I modify the size of the window?

Scotty I recently found this webpage through a friend. It has several free programs. I hope this helps.
I have the two split in the box outside my house, but I can't get both of them to work at the same time. If I want to use one, I have to unplug the other.
Install a satellite diplexer in the box outside and behind the TV. This is a standard setup that your satellite installer should know how to do.
If you need help installing them, IM me. I am also on Skype.
I have 1 tivo dvr and 2 plain receivers
Sell them on eBay. they are yours - you can do what you want with them.
I'll give you $5 for the TiVo.
I live in an apartment without access to pay tv and this seems like a viable solution.
Well there are some out there that will you a bunch of channels but they will nothing that anyone would actually want to watch. I found a good program that isn’t a subscription at all, its software that you use to get tons of channels. There are a lot of useless ones on there but it also has pretty much every single local channel you could imagine. I also have dish network tv and I can tell you that I get WAY more channels using the satellite to PC program. I won’t ever again pay for a subscription to satellite tv this software is awesome. I linked the site in the source box.
