How can I record something directly from a television or computer onto a consumer hand-held camcorder?

Filed under: television on computer — admin @ 10:44 pm

What wires (if any) do I have to use? I’ve seen this sometimes and I’m not sure of the method. Please cite your source(s).

To record from a computer to a miniDV, HDV, full size DV, or Digital8 camcorder, all you need is the same firewire cable set up the same way as video capture.

To record from the computer to another type of camcorder requires a look in your owner’s manual and probably is not possible.

To record from your TV, you need to have a TV with video and audio OUT ports. This feature is not available on TVs in the US (unless it was a special order)

Can I connect my satellite to my computer?

Filed under: satellite tv computer — admin @ 10:44 pm

I got a new computer earlier in the year that is equipped with a tv tuner. I tried hooking it up to the satellite the way the directions said but no such luck. Does my tv need to be the primary tv connected to the satellite box? My tv is a secondary tv. Can I still hook up my computer so that I can watch tv on it? If so, what do I need to do?

i have a mercury tv tuner and it has input for aux in signal consisting of a 3.5mm stereo jack for sound and a rca input for the video(picture) i used a splitter on the satalite to let me connect a scart to rca adapter and then ran the left/right audio and the video lead to back of pc. plugged in video lead and used a 3.5mm jackplug to l/r rca lead to connect the audio. it works fine, even plug my playstation in sometimes. i'm guessing your tv card has similar connections… most do. good luck

had cable tv (ch. 2-98) on my PC without the Comcast box, now it's gone. why? please explain to me.?

Filed under: cable tv on pc — admin @ 10:44 pm

I pay a lot for high speed Internet from Comcast in northern NJ. Also I hooked up a PC tuner card for analog cable TV and after splitting the comcast cable it was working fine for about six months. I could get clear picture on almost all channels when watching comcast cable tv on my PC through simple Windows-based TV tuner (analog). I guess it would also work for regular analog TV however I don;t have one :)
Suddenly all channels became scrambled, the device is probably working fine, because I tested another brand new one with no effect. can someone explain to me what has happened? was my signal encoded somehow to prevent me from watching analog TV for free as an add-on to internet access I had? can I override it somehow using some other kind of TV tuner card for my PC or software application? I really don't like the idea of paying for set top box and all this stuff, because simply I watch TV maybe a few hours in a month due to lack of time. for that reason I don't will to pay for it.

Cable Internet uses a standard TV channel for the the downloading of Internet data. The channel used is determined by the equipment used by the cable company. The rest of the channels are used for regular Cable TV programming. They all use the same cable. That is why you split the signal one to the TV/Computer the other to the cable modem. Your cable modem is listening for data on its channel. The TV set is receiving all the other channels. The TV will simply skip the data channel as it will automatically determine it is not in a usable picture format.

This is the standard setup. You will receive all the available analog channels and the data channel UNLESS the cable company filters them out. Since the cable company pays the cable networks so much per subscriber they only want to provide the regular cable channels to paying subscribers for regualr cable TV.

So the cable company will put on your cable TV line a series for filters that will remove all the channels except your download Internet Channel.

What happened was the cable system finally put the correct filters in place to block out all but the Internet download channel. The filters are put on your cable TV line coming into your home/apartment in a place that is not accessible by you.
In order to receive regular TV the filters must be removed and it is illegal for you to do so.

What cable is going to look better for using an HDTV as a Computer Moniter? VGA or HDMI?

Filed under: cable on computer — admin @ 10:43 pm

Ive already tried a VGA cable from my computer to my 32" HDTV and it looks excellent. I'm wondering if its worth going out and buying an hdmi cable. Does it really look that much better?

hdmi can only go up to 1920×1080 that's it but if you can find a screen that will support it go vga or dv1 cause it is capable up to the 2 to 3k mark! i am talking resolutions ~ 2500×2100 up in that area! the highest res "screen" i seen is a 1200p screen! which uses the dv1 plug in! they also make adapters to convert vga to dv1 if that helps!

Anyone know of a web source stating misrepresentation in TV for women?

Filed under: tv on the web — admin @ 10:43 pm

What I am looking for is any article that states that even though TV show a lot of female lawyers/doctors it is bad because they ignore the fact that there are not as many female professionals workers as TV portrays.

Sorry, I can't find anything on that specifically. But I'd like to say I'm glad I'm not the only person who sees this. If you judged strictly on television, you would think 90% of soldiers, cops, doctors, and lawyers were female.

Maybe they think showing women in these positions will raise the self-esteem of female viewers. You know, make it feel more natural and common. Pound it into our heads. Brainwash us. Insult women by assuming they're that gullible and shallow. Insult men by portraying us as incompetent fools. Who knows.

What would be the optimum internet speed to stream tv and video on computer screen or even a tv set?

Filed under: tv on my computer — admin @ 10:43 pm

Because of digital conversion, I'm looking at other options. Would internet tv be good? How would the quality be? I have up to 758 kb now. Thank you.

that is no where near what you need to "stream tv" now i am guessing you have a wired connection to? because if you don't then well there are even more questions to ask. i would say for s video you would need about 2000kb at the least. for higher resoultions you would need at least 5000kb thats what i have and even with that sometimes hd video can lag a bit. see that speed unless you have already converted is not your true download speed mine with 5000 is really about 1500 kb

QUESTION FOR ALL SATELLITE OWNERS Satellite Dish tv help/question specific info inside. URGENT?

Filed under: satellite tv systems — admin @ 10:43 pm

I am watching my neighbors house as the family is on vacation and I was watching their tv(it is satellite). I went to the actual tv not the remote and I wanted to turn up volume but I accidentally changed chanels I changed back but satellite was poof. How do I get back to satellite? If you need details about their system just ask. PLEASE I REALLY NEED HELP.

My Dish network will normally work when I press and hold the power button on the receiver for thirty seconds or until it turns off and back on. YOU MUST PUSH THE BUTTON ON THE RECEIVER, NOT THE REMOTE! That resets it, most of the time it works, if not the technical support is 1-800-333-3474.

ALSO TRY CHANGING THE CHANNEL ON THE TV TO CHANNEL 3 OR 4.
