i want to use my television as a monitor as well for my computer. what kind of cable wire do i need to connect between my television and my computer. are there cables that are longer?
The best is HDMI, use this if your computer has an HDMI output and your tv has an HDMI input, this cable works for audio and sound.
RGB/VGA works, but you will need an audio cable also
I want to connect my pc to my tv but not sure what type of cable i need seeing as on my tv i only have a scart socket and tv aerial socket. I have a s-video socket on my pc. Please Help!!!
Get an s-video cable since you have this connection available, if you have dvi on both the video card and tv then use that. Best case scenario you have hdmi on both, but not all video cards have that yet, most high def tv’s do.

I’m not sure about Passions, but you can find episodes of OLTL on youtube.com. Type in the name of the show and the date you’re looking for (for ex. One Life to Live 4-7-09).
I dont need to be able to watch tv but to be able to hook up a dvd player playstation for my son.
It would depend on what kind of inputs you have on the monitor. Just go out and buy an HD tv anyway, its totally worth the money.
My iPhone screen has gotten too dirty to wipe it off with clothe. Can I use the solutions used to clean tv/laptop screens? Or the screen wipes (that have sodium lauryl etc)? Something special because its touchscreen etc?
Just use your breath and a cloth. It works. I’ve done it.
Just purchased a MacBook Pro, connected it to my Toshiba HDTV via Mini-DP to VGA adapter and works fine, but the highest resolution I can get is 1360 x 768.
So I was wondering: Is that’s the biggest resolution I can achieve with my MacBook Pro or is the resolution based on the monitor/tv that it’s connected to.
I know it might be a dull question, but thanks in advance.
1360×768 is the highest your HDTV can go. That is a common resolution for smaller HDTV sets (32 inches and smaller).
HDTVs that can go higher would be the 1080p HDTVs. Those do 1920×1080.
You shouldn’t be using analog VGA though. Macs work best using a digital connection– You should have bought the MiniDisplayPort-to-HDMI adapter and an HDMI cable instead.
I want to get rid of my DSL and horrible AT&T service. I want to have high speed internet, tv and save money on 2 home phone lines. Any suggestions.

I just hooked up my laptop to my LCD TV via an RGB (VGA) connection and all I can see on my TV screen is the actual desktop picture (wallpaper),nothing else.I was surfing the web (I’m using Windows XP) and I even played a Youtube video and the audio works fine, but no picture.I tried everything now.I went to my control panel, changed a number of settings, but I still can’t see the web on my TV,only my wallpaper. How can I can get the web to work on my TV screen correctly?
It’s working correctly.
You are running in Extended Desktop Mode, where the TV acts as an extra area where you can drag open windows and icons to.
Try it. Use your mouse or trackpad and drag an open window off the edge of your laptop screen and watch it magically appear on the TV.
That’s how extended desktop mode works.
I understand I’ll have to get an infrared USB receiver, but can I program the remote to connect to a USB receiver then setup a program to recognize its input?
I’m looking to have the ability to adjust volume, recognize certain buttons for back, forward, pause, play, etc., and to turn off the computer itself. Is this possible?
When you buy the usb ‘receiver’ just buy a remote control for your pc. Certainly easier than trying to customize hardware for a foreign remote control. What you can program the remote to do depends on the version you buy.
