Are RGA and VGA connections compatible on computer/television?

Filed under: television on computer — admin @ 10:44 am

I’m trying to connect a laptop to my plasma television. The television identifys the connection as RGA and the computer identifys it as VGA, yet the connectors seem to fit both of them. I connected them and I can’t seem to get a picture so I don’t know if I’m doing something wrong or if they just aren’t compatible. It seems like they wouldn’t have fit in the slots if they weren’t correct! Anyone have any answers? PLEEEEEESE!!!!!!!!!!!

I never heard of a connector called RGA, thier is RGB and RCA, I am sure your plasma TV has the RGB connector, that fits to your VGA cable, because they are the same, if failed, then you can buy a VGA to RCA converter, like this one

I connected my HDMI cable from my TV/PC screen to my PC and the speakers on the monitor dont work?

how am I able to fix this?

I think when you are connected to HDMI, you are sending the video signal, but not the audio signal, and the regular audio will not work with HDMI. So, you probably need to get into the bios, and see if there is a set up for HDMI audio, or HD audio, or something.

Ok i have a router have a cable modem, computer and xbox?

Filed under: cable on computer — admin @ 10:43 am

I am tryign to hook it up so i can have my computer online at the same time i am on xbox live, but for somereason it wont work i have to conenct each one up alone from the modem. yet when i plug it in to the router and plug the 2 cables from the router to the computer and xbox neither of them work. what am i doing wrong?

Cable modems only allow access to a single MAC address. when you plug in a computer to the modem, the modem stores the computer’s MAC address. When you plug the router into the modem, the modem will not work as it is looking for your computers MAC address, and your routers MAC address does not match. For you, there are two fixes.

1. Unplug the power from the cable modem for a good 5 minutes. This is the only way to make a modem ‘forget’ the MAC address it was talking to. Then connect the router to the modem.

Or..

2. Connect your computer to your router. Access the router’s configuration screen on your computer. (Check routers instructions if you don’t know how) One of the settings should include ‘MAC address cloning’. Clone your PC’s MAC address. This will make the MAC address on your router the same as your computer so the modem will now speak to it. Then you can connect the 360 to the router as well and use both the 360 and PC with no issues.

i came to know i need to buy one svideo cord which i need to buy for 12 foot as my tv is away and may be i need to buy a video card too? not sure, pl tell me what all i need.

thanks a lot

Don’t use that S-video garbage.

Check your 42" LG HDTV and see if it has a "PC input" or "DB15". That would be a standard VGA jack, which you can connect to your Presario using a standard VGA monitor cable.

VGA will give you a FAR superior image than S-video, which is LOW DEFINITION only.

How many hours should my son (8 yrs old) be limited to for (video games, tv, computer) on a daily basis?

Filed under: tv on my computer — admin @ 10:43 am

I would respectfully suggest a limit of 2 hours per week, on Friday and Saturday only (not on a school night). Instead of playing video games, he needs to be out in the sunshine, in nature, exploring his world, developing and mastering his body and learning to love it. Kids’ developing nervous systems need lots of sensory input: lifting heavy objects, rolling down hills, swinging, spinning, climbing, running, and just lying under a tree and watching the patterns of shadows. He needs REAL life experiences in nature, not a screened existence.

Help getting a picture on my tv from my laptop using an S-Video cable?

Filed under: tv on laptop — admin @ 10:43 am

In the past, my roommates have plugged their laptops into their tvs. my tv is slightly older, however I do have an S-Video cable. However, when I plug it into my tv and laptop, the tv doesn’t display the picture on my laptop. what might i be doing wrong, and how can I make this work?

Make sure you are channeling to the right input.. Just play with it a bit. Also, the most frequent problems people usually have is displaying their laptop to their television. Make sure on your laptop, you’re pressing FN + F7 or F8.. Just play with it a bit.. Here’s a video. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrQ-jxNQZgQ&feature=related

what would you rather have high speed internet or satellite tv?

Filed under: internet satellite tv — admin @ 10:42 am

we have dish network and dial-up phone service. And we want faster internet service and we cant afford both if we get faster internet service. should I get rid of dish network for faster internet, or the other way around?

Personally I’d rather have high speed internet. How many TV channels do you need anyway?

Toshiba Satellite A305D PC Problems?

Filed under: satellite on pc — admin @ 10:42 am

I have a Toshiba Satellite A305D that is about 1 - 2 years old. It is running on Windows Vista Home Premium. The problem with this computer starting about a week ago or couple days ago is that the computer might shut off while I am doing something and when I turn it on again it will ask certain questions to how I want to start the PC because of an unexpected shut down. And sometimes it would turn off while it is sleeping and there would be no power to the PC and the Wi-Fi indicator would blink and I can’t turn the PC on. Would any body let me know what is going on with my PC?

Thanks

You may want to check the even log accessed by Managing My computer and clicking on the event logs to see if anything was captured.

Could be software or hardware related. Event log might help you out. If you feel comfortable with it you may want to restore it to factory default. If that doesn’t help it’s likely a hardware issue.

Could also restore to an earlier restore point that you know for sure the problem wasnt happening during that time
