Software to Stream Live TV to a Mac Computer?

Filed under: download satellite tv — admin @ 7:26 pm

I have been looking around for something to download that would allow me to stream live tv to my mac without having to get any new hardware. I don’t mind if it costs money (as long as it’s not a monthly fee), I just want it to work properly, especially better than the jumpy free versions.
I found a program called "satellite tv for pc" that is for the pc and looks as though it is a scam, but the idea behind it is exactly what I am looking for.
Thanks for the input.

Nope - you need hardware. Your Mac doesn’t have a TV Tuner to decode cable and over-the-air video feeds.

The good news is that the Elgato EyeTV is exactly what you need and, while it’s classified as hardware, it simply plugs into a free USB port. It also comes with DVR software for Mac that makes it work a lot like a TiVO: you can record shows to your hard drive and then edit them however you want.

Why did yahoo change their tv guide web site? This new one really sucks!?

Filed under: tv on the web — admin @ 7:25 pm

I can’t find where to go just to check the tv listings. When I do find the page and scrolling part are dysfunctional. This was not a good change. I used to rely on yahoo tv for my tv guide and now it is useless with out alot of hassle.

Takes forever to load. When it does, if a 2 hour show started a 8:00 and your listing starts at 9:00, the show is not displayed, so you have to scroll back and waiting for it to load again. Then remember what channel you scrolled back to get… That is ridiculous. Very bad programming on Yahoo’s part. I have stopped using it.

need 360/tv/computer advice!!?

Filed under: tv on my computer — admin @ 7:25 pm

i want to buy a hd tv (around 25"+) i don’t know whether to buy just a screen (no tv tuner) and use my 360 (through vga/hd cable) and computer on it, as i have tv on my computer (just need to set it up) or should i spend out more and get a tv one? i really don’t to spend more than £300, but i have seen 32" tvs for £250 on internet sites. what to do?

Just buy the tv, in the long run you will find it easier because not everything is compatible with monitors and I don’t think they are much cheaper these days - at least not over 25 inches.

How do I connect my laptop to my tv?

Filed under: tv on laptop — admin @ 7:25 pm

I have a HDTV, laptop and cable which looks like this
http://www.1topstore.com/product_info.php?language=en&currency=GBP&products_id=1652

How do I connect it? I have a slot on the TV and laptop for the silver part but I cant seem to find any slots for the coloured wires? Have I got the wrong cable? The cable came with the TV.

Connect the silver part to your laptop VGA out port, the colored RCA connectors go to the TV Component In section, (not Composite In)usually on the back. Match up the colors. Now the important part. You have to select the component input on your TV and the VGA out on your laptop. Can’t help you there with the TV, but you can just choose one at a time until you see the picture. The laptop must be set to send the signal out the VGA port, to do this usually you hit the key combination FN and F5. Hitting it once activates the VGA port and laptop screen, twice activates the VGA port and blanks the laptop screen. A third time will turn on the laptop screen and turn off the VGA port. The combination to turn yours on might be different, look at the F keys at the top of your keyboard and choose the one with a computer / tv screen. Good Luck!

How to connect Gateway All in One Computer to Plasma TV?

Filed under: tv on computer — admin @ 7:24 pm

I recently bought a Gateway 4800-02 All In One Computer. I want to hook it up to my Plasma TV, the computer only has USB ports, no VGA, HDMI, S-Video, etc.. Only USB. I know I can buy an HDMI to USB cable, but would this serve the purpose? I am wondering if this would provide audio, and would the video be of good quality? Thank you!

The cable you speak of should work, but it would not have as good quality as an HDMI to HDMI connection. Audio- yes.

How do I get the Internet to my Xbox through my computer via the ethernet cable?

Filed under: cable on computer — admin @ 4:35 pm

Okay. So my computer gets the internet through a router (without wires) and I plugged in my ethernet cable into the computer, so how can I get my computer to send the Internet through the ethernet cable through to my Xbox?

Plug the xbox into the router.

You could also enable internet connection sharing on your computer, but this is a somewhat rigged solution.

Which career I might find work in the most: tv/radio, web design, multimedia design, or computer tech?

Filed under: tv on the web — admin @ 4:35 pm

I am thinking about either going to a community college and learning tv/ radio for a 2 year degree that can trasfer to an 4 year university if I decide to continue my education. But I also might consider web design, multimedia design, or computer technology that would take 2 years to complete, but the whole degree want transfer to an 4 year university. I am looking for a career that can start off at least $30,000-$40,000 a year, and a career that has more work out there. If I decide on the tv/radio degree I would transfer to a 4 year school and try to learn digital media. I already have an audio engineer diploma, but hasn’t push myself that much to find a lot of work in that field, but I am starting to work some as an audio engineer now. I am 27 and single with no kids so should I go after a 2 year degree only, or take the 2 year degree that can transfer? I am having a hard time deciding which one to learn.
