Can I connect hdtv directly to web?

Filed under: tv on the web — admin @ 5:38 am

I have internet only, no cable tv and want to watch web videos on tv, not just Netflix, also Youtube and hulu/fancast. My laptop is old, but I see new HDTVs for not too much $, that say they connect to the web — do they need a modem or is some kind of "set-top box" or modem built in? If they need a modem, can it be connected wirelessly so I can have it in a different room than my laptop?

you need a HDMI cable to connect your lap top to your TV.

Ha I love how Time Warner tells me to connect my computer to my TV to watch it over the internet on my TV?

http://www.timewarnercable.com/Content/media.ashx?width=640&height=480&autoplay=True&loop=False&source=/MediaLibrary/1/1/productsandservices/digitalcable/retrans/TV_computer%20intructional%20video_TWC.wmv

so basically they are telling me I’m going to have to go out and pay for two additional cables and hook up my laptop (I do have one but some people don’t and don’t have a computer close enough to their tv) to my TV and then stream shows on my TV from my computer which I am already paying for to be able to watch them on my TV but I can’t because two Greed Hungry companies are arguing over 23 cents per customer?

Wow God Bless America

I can understand sticking up for the consumer and appreciate that but when it’s only 23 cents a month more there has got to be something that isn’t in Time Warners Favor

That’s so lame. I just read about that, its pathetic, they’re a huge corporation, why can’t they deal with it instead of inconveniencing the customer?

Its usually around this time of the year that these things happen. A few years ago, Dish Network said they might not carry MTV and other channels. But I think they worked out something eventually.

i have an HP Compaq presario f700 with a s video outlet. my TV has a working s video outlet in the back. i plugged the cable into both and nothing happened. my TV’s on the correct input channel and the screens still black. am i supposed to turn everything off before i plug everything in? or is there something else i’m missing here?
i forgot to mention i’m not a big tech guy, just know enough to get by. so you may have to break stuff down me

You most likely have to set up multiple displays in your graphics properties

How much does a Satellite TV & Internet package cost per month?

Filed under: internet satellite tv — admin @ 5:37 am

For the US (Sky is Mexico I believe), Satellite TV and Internet packages can be found bellow.

Dish Network: http://sathookup.com/dish-network.php

Directv: http://sathookup.com/directv.php

HughesNet Satellite Internet: http://sathookup.com/hughesnet.php

Satellite internet is expensive (min $50/mo.) compared to cable and DSL high speed internet, and is slower. I recommend you go with those if available in your location, if not, satellite internet is decent.

Comcast filters out particular web TV channel: how can I find someone in Comcast who can fix it?

Filed under: tv on the web — admin @ 8:56 pm

I am trying to watch mms://bcast.tvr.by/video . It works on any other network: in the library, on AT&T DSL, but not in Comcast. And I have Comcast cable at home.

I called them many times, didn’t have a good luck finding technical support person who can solve the problem. Answers are like: I can’t watch it either here, so it’s the website problem. Or: when I type just the host part — bcast.tvr.by — it tell me under construction, so it’s a website problem.

Is there a special phone number where I can find the knowledgeable technical support person? How to deal with this? Or maybe dumping Comcast is the best option? But there is no other cable internet provider here where I live.
To GTB:
No, it’s not a subscription based website. It’s a free TV channel.

It is pretty much a certainty that if the specific site is active on other carriers but not active on Com Cast, it is being blocked at Com Cast for some reason. Com Cast people themselves tell you they cannot see it at their location so the issue is not a failure to dispatch the site to you.

Com Cast may offer what it beleives are suitable alternatives and they just do not wish to offer another service. Remember they pay a subscription fee to some items, and web sites that provide TV is often one with subscription fees.

This puts you into a situation where you either live with the Com Cast service or do without since you have no alternative.

How bad are TV, computer, cell phones, handheld games?

Filed under: tv on my computer — admin @ 8:56 pm

well i heard that Tv makes ur brain all mooshy
and the computer generates radiation or sometin and its not good for people
cell phones when u call the signal goes thru ur head
and handheld games are terrible for vision

1 i want to know if there true
2 i want to know how bad they are on a scale of 1-10 and like situations of when
3 i want to know how to decrease there unhealthiness, soem ppl put special salt rocks that suck in the cps radiation or w.e. idk…of course im not gonna do it as much
4 how to come back from all this junk, read? the rubiks cube? will this help to fix my brain from all this exsposure to unhealthiness?

i dont do handheld games
and i dont call much but i text a lot
and i do the computer a lot
but i dont watch much TV

thanks

We had a big study in my country about these items and they showed that there is no correlation between them and how your brain functions:all will stay the way it was.
And there is no radiation that can harm you coming from these items either
There are no measures needed to take because nothing will happen to you.
Planets:
you are way obsessing about this without real cause.
