I had the same problem....First, its recommended that you have kodak easyshare....You can get that from ((http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/software/easyshare/en/dln_ekn026079.jhtml?pq-path=4509)). Second, before you hook up the camera to the computer, turn the camera on. Once the camera is on and plugged in, open easyshare, click on tools (top right corner) then something like sync and transfer, then transfer...that should work for you....

Please consider as a best answer :-)
References :
http://www.kodak.com/global/en/service/software/easyshare/en/dln_ekn026079.jhtml?pq-path=4509

For one thing I am suprised a computer that old actually had a usb port.

But anyway you need to install drivers for that, but with a computer that old it is not likely that Kodak ever made drivers for windows 98, assuming that Kodak camera was made recently.

If there was a windows 98 driver for it, then the kodak website should have a copy of the driver for you or it would be on the cd that came with the camera.
