Cable modems only allow access to a single MAC address. when you plug in a computer to the modem, the modem stores the computer's MAC address. When you plug the router into the modem, the modem will not work as it is looking for your computers MAC address, and your routers MAC address does not match. For you, there are two fixes.

1. Unplug the power from the cable modem for a good 5 minutes. This is the only way to make a modem 'forget' the MAC address it was talking to. Then connect the router to the modem.

Or..

2. Connect your computer to your router. Access the router's configuration screen on your computer. (Check routers instructions if you don't know how) One of the settings should include 'MAC address cloning'. Clone your PC's MAC address. This will make the MAC address on your router the same as your computer so the modem will now speak to it. Then you can connect the 360 to the router as well and use both the 360 and PC with no issues.
References :
http://sacramentocomputerhelp.com/xbox360answers.html
