Watch Satellite TV On Your PC

Can you hook up cable TV to a PC monitor instead of a TV set?

I was wondering if a simple monitor could be used instead of an actual television. The TV has a tuner, but so does the cable box, so I’m asking if a TV is necessary to use your cable for all the movies and programs … and would it work just like a TV. And if so, what connection modifications would need to be made, if any?

In North America, you can get TV signals in analog or QAM digital. Therefore, to receive channels, your receiver has to have one or both of those tuners. A monitor normally has no tuner. You can get a tuner card for your PC that will do the job.

If you have cable TV service with a cable box, you can connect the video output of the box to your monitor and the audio output to a separate amplifier and speaker system.

  1. well you have to find what connection does the monitor have to see if its capable of being used. If not then you have to buy some type of adaptor cable to monitor.
