What cable for PC to TV?

Filed under: cable tv on pc — admin @ 11:23 pm

I have a VGA Port on my laptop and I want to run my laptop on my tv to watch movies. On my tv I have 4-Pin S-Video and RCA plugins. I was wondering what kind of cable or converter box should I buy to be able to do so.

Don’t bother.

You can buy a VGA to composite video converter, but the quality will be pretty bad. Not worth wasting your money. Wait until you get an HDTV.

What was that cable called?(The one use to connect you PC audio to TV audio)?

Filed under: cable tv on pc — admin @ 2:18 am

Now I got video on my TV from PC using an DVI to HDMI cable but no sound.
I heard there was a cable that has a left and right (red and white) audio output from the PC.

You want a 3.5mm to RCA cable.

I’ll even link one for you…

Just an example, I wouldn’t buy that one.

s video cable to tv from pc… only black and white .. why? help!?

Filed under: cable tv on pc — admin @ 4:41 am

Hi i was wondering if anyone can help me see i usually connect my laptop to my other tv(regular crt) using the svideo cable and it works good but of course not so sharp.

anyways I just bought myself a new hdtv lcd so it would look clearer and it does just that well i connected it the same and everything works properly just that there is no color showing up on my tv montior.. the tv works perfectly with games tv show everyithing i alrady tried to configure the laptop by going to graphics property but is there something i missed or something that i need to do diffret

see the weird part is my other crt (older tv) works fine and now that i got a lcd it dont work well it does just that it dosent give out the colors only in black and white… need help please.

i tried everything from display properties to just about every site i found and yet nothng. help.

The problem could be with the type of video your are trying to view. Is the format PAL or NTSC video. NTSC is the US. PAL is another format used in many other countries. Sometimes viewing PAL formatted video produces B&W. Perhaps you should use composite cabling instead. Make sure that your new TV is PAL compliant or maybe you can configure it to view PAL and NTSC formatted video. Sorry I can’t offer more help. Good luck.

How to connect a PC(containing a Graphics Card with HDMI port) to a LCD TV, using HDMI cable and hear sound?

Filed under: cable tv on pc — admin @ 9:48 am

I use a LCD TV as my PC Monitor. The TV has two ports under the PC section, one is a VGA port and the other is a 3.5mm audio port. I connect my PC to the TV using a VGA Cable and hear PC’s sound out of my TV’s inbuilt speakers using a stereo cable with a 3.5mm jack on both sides.(One side connected to the PC and the other connected to the TV in PC Audio in port) The TV also has an HDMI port.
I have purchased a new graphics card which has a VGA port, DVI port and HDMI port. If i connect my PC to my LCD using an HDMI cable, what do I need to do such that I also hear the PC’s sound out of the TV’s inbuilt speakers when the TV source is set to HDMI?

HDMI carries both video and audio in one cable.

HELP!?! pc to tv with appropriate cables no signal???

Filed under: cable tv on pc — admin @ 11:43 am

I hope someone can help me. I tried several ways as instructed through different website/forums/etc. Maybe theres something i am not doing right or wrong cables or maybe need a pc to tv convertor.

SPECS:
1.) toshiba satellite to Samsung 40" lcd 1080dpi
2.) pc- VGA port / tv - hdmi port
3.) cables - pc vga port - vga (male) to dvi adaptor, dvi to hdmi cable connected to tv
4.) attempted the following: pc display monitor - check extend to 2nd monitor, brought down resolution, send signal (Fn then F5 on mu pc - that’s where my monitor icon is), restarted pc, tv monitor turn off and on.

with all the attempts mention above nothing happened, the tv monitor is black that says "weak or no signal".

i am ready to give up. this is my third attempt (been changing cables already with fry’s electronics just to get the right cable).

do i need pc to tv convertor then instead of all this cable since i only have vga port in my pc???

your input is highly appreciated.
In lieu with my question, what should i do then? any other option other than using a convertor (vga to hdmi - that option is very expensive). I already tried vga to vga (male to male) cable didn’t work as well - same thing is coming up "no signal".
by the way, i also tried S-video connection already, didn’t work (my laptop supports only 4pin - not 7pin).
i guess that means i have to quit trying huh?!?!

Your cable sistem can’t work. VGA - analog, HDMI - digital, you can’t transfer from analog to digital without conversion. You need something like these http://www.nextag.com/vga-to-hdmi/search-html

What is this tv to pc cable called?

Filed under: cable tv on pc — admin @ 11:13 am

My new lcd tv came with a pc hookup. The jack on the tv has three rows with five holes each and two ’screw in’ spots on the sides. I’m hoping the pc side of the cord will be usb. What is the name of the cord I would need?

It is VGA. The cable you will get has the same connector on both ends, and connects to the like port on your computer. You will also need an appropriate audio cable, which on the computer end most likely is a 3.5mm stereo, and on the TV the same, or red/white RCA.

I connected my HDMI cable from my TV/PC screen to my PC and the speakers on the monitor dont work?

Filed under: cable tv on pc — admin @ 10:43 am

how am I able to fix this?

I think when you are connected to HDMI, you are sending the video signal, but not the audio signal, and the regular audio will not work with HDMI. So, you probably need to get into the bios, and see if there is a set up for HDMI audio, or HD audio, or something.
