what would you rather have high speed internet or satellite tv?

Filed under: internet satellite tv — admin @ 10:42 am

we have dish network and dial-up phone service. And we want faster internet service and we cant afford both if we get faster internet service. should I get rid of dish network for faster internet, or the other way around?

Personally I’d rather have high speed internet. How many TV channels do you need anyway?

Is there any way to watch satellite tv on your pc WITHOUT an internet connection?

Filed under: internet satellite tv — admin @ 9:31 am

Like maybe some sort of card or usb device? But NO INTERNET CONNECTION.

to the best of my knowledge no. Not unless your satellite tv provider has some form of receiver that is for TV only and goes to your computer.

American TV through Internet instead of satellite?!?

Filed under: internet satellite tv — admin @ 8:54 pm

hi there,

i´ve recently found some site that offer me satellite TV (even american TV) through Internet. They only charge about 25 bucks once so i get their software and free to watch satellite through internet as long as i want. they also don´t provide a full list of the channels they are providing. and the sites look more or less like wannabe real professional sites.
therefore i´m afraid that it is scam - can any1 confirm?
i´m talking about sites like
http://satellitepcpro.com/
http://isoftwaretv.com/
http://satellitedirect.tv/

The only "American" TV will be religious channels, at best.

The major channels commercial channels will not permit such a service to carry their programming. They would demand monthly payments, access controls, DRM, and regional market protection similar to traditional pay TV.

Generally, such offerings are considered scams.

what are the probable risk of mobile phones ,Internet, satellite TV etc on human being.?

Filed under: internet satellite tv — admin @ 1:38 am

is there any physical and psychological hazards likely to arise out of rampant use of mobile technology and internet on living being?

Virtual vs real world - overuse and subjecting oneself to these fantastic mediums can result your becoming disengaged with the real world. The virtual world commands specific set of behaviors, when used excessively, that can be offensive to people in the real world. For example, talking loud on the cell phone in public places can annoy people and cut through their already stress filled lives. Also, it is considered rude not to be mindful of the presence of people that have no choice but to listen to your conversation. Also, watching too much of the moving image turns the person into a passive being. Hence, resulting in losing ones ability to listen to layered music or engage in a dialogue actively. The risk cannot be easily predicted and to what extent. But the risk is alienation, passivity, and an overall fuzziness between the virtual and the real.

Phone box signal is too far from source and weak; can i get internet through the satellite setup? what q’s should i ask the satellite compnay to make sure this is done correctly?

Satellite isn’t such a great alternative. Where do you live? If you live in the US, type your adress into this link.

see if you have EVDO coverage. This is real broadband. I’m a over the road truck driver and use this. I couldn’t be happier. Most of the time it’s faster than my DSL line at home. This is far superior to satellite. I’m sitting here in middle of Oklahoma, there is nothing around me but cattle and oil wells and I have a broadband connection fast enough to watch streaming videos without so much as a pause for buffering.

Is it possible to use an internet router with Satellite TV?

Filed under: internet satellite tv — admin @ 4:58 am

I have Dish Satellite service. If I were to buy an internet router, would I get internet? Also, is there a specific router I should get?

No, you wouldn’t. A service provider has to delegate you an internet service for a router to pick up. Satellite internet is also notoriously bad with connections. I’d recommend a DSL or Cable connection, or Fiber if it’s in your area.

Who is the best provider in Alberta to get internet and TV by satellite for an RV?

Filed under: internet satellite tv — admin @ 3:06 am

I will be traveling quite a bit and parked for multi-week periods in areas not serviced by cellular towers. I was hoping to find someone who had good advice on how to get TV and internet piped in possibly by satellite.

Thanks alot for any useful advice!!

For TV, that would probably be Shaw Satellite (PKA Starchoice). They have recently approved a mobile dish system.

For internet, maybe a Telus broadband card.
