How can I correct a weak satellite signal .?

Filed under: satellite tv systems — admin @ 3:57 pm

I have a Dish Network satellite system with 3 tv’s on it. Why is it that 2 of the tv’s work fine but the 3rd set has an error screen and is always scannig for a satelite. I have a Dish 500. This satelite system was eyed in as far as the aiming of the dish as opposed to having it done with a meter. All 3 sets go out when its raining. TY for your response.

It sounds like your dish may also have a weak signal, which may be causing problems with the receiver that is not currently working (longer line run, switch)

You can get your satellite dish peaked here:
http://www.sathookup.com/satellite-tv/store/dish-500-installation-repair.html

It could just be a loose/bad fitting for that room up at the dish. Anything else the installer charges a little extra.

Are there any cable or satellite systems where I can choose the channels I receive?

Filed under: satellite tv systems — admin @ 11:49 am

I live in the USA and there are only a few channels I like to watch on tv (Discovery, tru tv, Cartoon Network, Nicktoons Network e.t.c). Unfortunately, they’re all on advanced cable and it seems really ridiculous that I have to buy "packages" with all these sports and music channels that I am never going to watch in order to get my few favorite channels.

No, there are no "al la carte" satellite or cable tv packages with the basic channels. Basic cable starts around $15/mo

What Digital Standard for Digital Pay-TV Companies like Satellite and Cable in the US? DVB or ATSC?

Filed under: satellite tv systems — admin @ 3:59 am

What is the Digital Standard for Digital Pay TV Companies like DirecTV, Dish Network, Time warner Cable, Comcast etc. both Digital Cable and Digital Satellite TV in the US? is it Digital Video Broadcast (DVB-S) or Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC-S)?

Dishnetwork is the only major pay provider that uses DVB-S. A minor one called Globecast also uses DVB-S. Both use the current version of Nagra for security.

DirecTV uses their own proprietary format, which is not DVB, but similar to it. They use NDS Videoguard security.

Most cable providers use a somewhat standard QAM modulation, and most digital TV sets can tune the non-encrpyted channels. They mostly use either Motorola DCII or Scientific Altlanta PowerVu encryption.
Audio is almost always Dolby, where DVB formats use Musicam audio typically.

ATSC is just a broadcast digital format.

hOW TO WATCH LIVE FOOTBALL FREE ON TV THROUGH MOTORISED SATELLITE SYSTEM?

Filed under: satellite tv systems — admin @ 3:17 am

Hello
I was thinking of buying motorised satellite system so i can watch live sports particularly cricket and football(soccer).I talk to one company selling the system and they told me even if you buy motorised system you still have to pay subscription like to watch sky italia. Now i am confused.Does anyone has experience with the motorised satellite system(like someone using now)or knows any particular satellite system where you can watch free live sport.
Thanks

No, you usually have to buy some kind of card or package to watch sport.

My husband has a motorised satellite, but he had to buy an ART card for about £100 to get all the Arabic matches he likes to see.

Does anyone know if there is satellite system available where you can english premiership football free on tv.Is there any motorised satellite system out there. Please let me know if someone is aware of it

No need to SHOUT!

As long as you can link to EUTELSAT’s Hot Bird you should be able to hook up to some European and African channels that broadcast some matches live.

Any advice gratefully received

To receive UK TV in Spain, you would probably need a VERY large dish.

Can the Xbox 360 controller effect a TV remote?

Filed under: satellite tv systems — admin @ 10:43 am

I have a 2 TV-one box system setup from Dish Network for my satellite TV. We have the box in the basement next to an Xbox 360 and it is very difficult to change the channel upstairs whenever I play an Xbox 360 game. We have two wireless controllers to play with. My question is, can the signals from the wireless controller and Xbox 360 interfere with the TV remote’s signal? If so, would buying wired controllers fix the problem?

Yes a xbox 360 controller can effect CERTAIN TV remotes. The 360 works by sending radio signals to your 360 unit. The same goes for you TV remote, and this can cause problems to certain TV remotes as the signals are conflicting with each other.

And yes, buying a wired controller will fix this problem.
