We are tired of of cable, and satellite tv systems that charge a token/intro prices for service and then sock it to ya! What is a good system that uses the "ole style antennas,", that doesn’t charge for services! Tired of being ripped off!!!! please HELP
One that picks up signals..
i have a digital satellite on a 720p plasma tv. the picture is a bit fuzzy and i’m wondering if i should get the hd reciever. any suggestions?
Yes you should upgrade.
Showing standard def on a HDTV is like having a speedboat - in a wading pool.
Or type your address into AntennaWeb and see if you can put up an antenna and get some free local HD stations.
Our black box is a Hughes Network " Silver Edition" and the tv is a standard one. Will coaxial cable satisfactory work to carry Satellite communication to the tv? Is there a special dish that must be compatible with the Direct TV system? We have seen the dish mounted to a tripod. How difficult is it to tune the dish to the required satellite direction?
Some things to answer:
1. Where is southwest? Get a compass.
2. How will you mount the dish? Tripod? Mount on the RV? It needs to be secure, but should disassemble quickly.
3. Make the cable run between your dish and TV is the only challenge, since you can’t always guarantee where south will be when you park your RV.
Once you’ve done it once or twice, it should go up quickly when you reach your site.

I would like to install satellite tv but do not want to be out the expense of rewiring my entire house. Is my old tv cable wiring compatible with Direct Tv?
yes and no -since a Satellite needs a receiver to un-encryte the signal to be viewed-meaning if you connect your coaxial cable to the receiver you can watch tv thru out the whole house but its only the channel the receiver is tuned too-unlike cable-if you do get a sat set up they will run a rg6 cable from the sat dish to your receiver which is alot better than rg5—now the yes part you can get by with using the old rg5 cables but the signal will be greatly compromised -i have dishnet and my house is wired to other tvs thru the coaxial port to the rest of the house using rg5 using a splitter to my kids tv in their rooms but it is greatly diminished signal -but they can only watch what we are watching down stairs unless you get a multi room set up
Which do you recommend.Like music, movies, dramas, comedies and sci-fi/horror. using only old non HD 39" TV no surround.
It depends on what is more important. Direct TV is a tiny beat cheaper, as far as the amount of channels you get per dollar spent, but DISH network has better sports packages. They both supposedly have awesome customer service.
Hi,
I’m wondered,if there is a way to watch satellite tv channels for free in the US without beign a subscriber to a local cable or Satellite TV company>
I’ve been to Europe and my friends had some kind of pirate-made cards for receivers to watch satellite tv for free.
Could I buy a satellite system over Ebay?
If yes, could someone suggest me any decent satellite systems on the market?
Thank you
There are ways to circumvent the system but not worth the fines. Besides, fist you have to buy a black market card (which may not be good) and then you have to fear having it scanned and killed by an area sweep.
There are ways to protect a card via a PC set up between your dish and receiver but again not worth the hassle and possible fines.
Just shell out the money.
I have an in-line 20db (variable) gain signal booster, it’s rated at 900-2300Mhz. I think that is primary use is for Satellite systems, so I need to know that it won’t attenuate valid (cable TV) frequencies outside this range.
Sorry… not a clue…. you sound to be quite knowlegable yourself though… the only words I understand are…… "have an in….., it’s rated at …. I think that is primary use is for Satellite systems, so I need to know that it won’t ….. frequencies outside this range."
I live in the province in the Philippines (central Luzon) and want to install a satellite tv system so that I can see live or highlights of the English premier league football. Any idea which satellite I would have to "connect to". I was told maybe an Indonesian one??
as David said on the internet
When I go channel hopping on my satellite TV system and come across Indian, Japanese, Middle Eastern, etc. channels I notice that a lot of them seem to set the volume level so high there's actual sound distortion. They do the same with Asian films - many bollywood films suffer from this annoyingly high volume sound distortion, particularly noticeable when music is playing. Why do they set the volume too high?
it might not be intentional, it's possible that poor equipment is used, thus the sound quality isn't as good as we're used to.

because their language is so damn hard to understand that even the authentic people need the volume high
