Someone told me that you can hook up a computer to a tv and use the tv screen as the monitor. How do you connect it? Does it matter what kind of tv?
He says that he thinks you can only do it with newer flat screen televisons. Can it be used on other types of televisions?
The best ones to use are indeed flat-panel HDTVs, that’s because they have computer-ready ports like HDMI. Older low-definition boob-tube TVs suck for use as monitors because they are very low resolution, and they don’t have computer-ready jacks.
I’m using a big-screen HDTV as my monitor. Since my computer has a DVI port that is compatible with HDMI, I have it hooked up using a DVI-to-HDMI cable. Works perfectly. Check it out:http://i50.photobucket.com/albums/f347/armchairaviator/computer/IMG_0880c.jpg
Which ports do I need on my computer and on my tv to watch movies in HD on my television from my computer?
I think it was HDMI, but want to make sure.
The one that both your computer and your TV have. If they both have HDMI, use that. If not you’ll have to find some other common port (only HDMI includes sound in a single cable, though) or get a converter from what the computer has to what the TV has.
H, i’m almost 15 and going through puberty, but recently I became worried about growing taller, There’s a computer and T.V screens in my bedroom, The TV is not on the whole time, the computer is switched of at night and i’m not in my bedroom the whole time, but most of the time, so could the radiation from the computer and tv screens stunt my growth?
no it can’t plain and simple
I am not so tech savvy but I was wondering if there is a way of using a television as a computer monitor, or maybe there is a certain type of television out now that allows you to connect to your computer through a cable or something? Specifically I am looking for a way to download media and be able to view it on a television instead of crowded around a computer.
yes there is a relativliy simple solution to this
if your computer has a HDMI output or VGA, and your television has a HDMI or VGA input, then use the relevant wire and connect the two
bear in mind that VGA does not carry audio, so you will need a phono lead or something to connect the two
hdmi would be preferable as it carries both audio and video signals
Hi, I plan on purchasing this item here (link provided)

I plan on using mainly using for my computer. My question is, what kind of cable(s) do I need in order to hook this up to the tower of my computer?.
Thanks
According to that page you linked to, that TV has both an HDMI input and a VGA input.
If your computer has a digital jack (HDMI or DVI), you can connect it to the HDMI port on that TV.
If your computer only has an old analog VGA jack, then you connect it to the VGA Input on that TV.
Hope this helps.
I have some videos that i want to try to get onto a tv screen, with out putting it on a disc and putting it into the dvd player. Is there some sort of cord or something you can buy that connects the the computer and tv?
You can in many cases but it depends a lot on the TV you have and a little on the computer you have. But since you have told us nothing about your TV or computer, you are making it difficult.
What electronic gizmo out there will allow me to wirelessly transmit what is normally displayed on my computer monitor onto my flat screen TV?
Also, if this can be done, done it work effectively? Or is there lots of "static" or large delays in signals, etc?
Links would be appreciated. Thanks!

You need what is called a Digital media receiver or Windows media center extender. Check Linksys, Netgear, and the HP x280n.
With "n" wireless, it works quite well.
I have an iBook G4 (a 2004 I believe) and bought a cord to connect it to my television (a Magnavox). The image is displaying, but the resolution is terrible (like 640 x 480). I went under system preferences and that was the only resolution available. If I unplug it, I have many more options. As soon as I plug it back in, all the other resolutions disappear. I can still use it, but it is irritating because I am limited on what I can do.
The cable you’ve purchased to plug your computer into the television is probably a RGB Cable, so it can only transfering a low resolution.
The only way to plug your computer into a TV with a higher resolution is to use a HDMI cable. Have you got a HDMI connector on your tv and G4?

It could if you develop too much eye strain which could start to blur your distance (pseudomyopia) unless you use computer glasses. For more about computer vision syndrome go to: http://www.computervisionreadingeyeglasses.com/
Ask your cable company. It’s called stealing.
