if it is possible what do i have to do to be able to watch television on my computer?…i have a 20 inch flat panel monitor
You need a TV tuner card(pci) or through a usb port. They generally cost any where from $30-$120. Try and get a digital tuner as well since the analog will be fazed out soon and you will need a digital antenna to view TV unless you have cable or satellite. I personally have a ATI 8500dv video card that has a TV tuner built in the video card. Good luck.
I am trying to connect my laptop to my tv so I can visit websites on my computer and have them go on the television screen and listen to music and hear it through the TV. I’m not sure what kind of hook-ups or cords I need to do this. Please let me know.
It depends on the outputs on your laptop amd inputs on the TV
Mine just has a VGA connector (15 pins)
It works OK, you can even use both monitors at the same time, but no audio on the TV, it’s just like a regular PC monitor
Some newer laptops and HDTVs have HDMI connectors, these have both audio and video signals.
Which one would you choose and why ?
its like choosing a hot iron or a flame. either way we can burn our selves.
can lightening & thunder affect your television or computer?
It can destroy your computer and tv if the lightning hits your electric cable. Therefore you should always take out the cable from your computer when a thunderstorm is in a big distance from your house, when it’s close it’s safer for you not to tough any electronics.
I have a HP Pavilion dv7t with only a vga output. My TV only has a S-Video input. Could I just get a VGA to S-Video cable? How do I know if I have the software/hardware necessary for this? If no to any of those questions I could just get a VGA to S-Video adapter right?
edit: How about hdmi to s-video? Is that possible at all?
That will NEVER work.
Those VGA-to-Svideo cable adapters are meant for video cards that have a specially-built VGA port capable of sending out an S-video signal. It will NOT work with just any VGA port.
Your Pavilion dv7t’s VGA port is NOT one of those specially-built ones. If you attempt to use that cable adapter, you will get NO image.
EDITED TO ADD:
HDMI-to-S-video will NEVER work either. Those adapters will only work with a specially-built HDMI port. Which your Pavilion DOES NOT HAVE.
I have some old home movies I’d like to put on my computer. They’re on DVD, and whenever I film them, they come up with the lines of the TV over the picture.
How can I upload something from the tv onto the computer?
I need a CLEAR picture.
If they are on DVD and you have a DVD player on your computer, you can get a DVD to MPEG conversion software. There are lots of different software to choose from. I used DVD Rip Master. It cost $30 dollars or you can find it free if you know what you are doing.
If you do not have a DVD player on your computer, it is cheaper to buy a new drive than have to buy a new video card that can capture video from a dvd player.
Good Luck.
I would really like to watch live tv on my laptop because everyone else takes the other tv’s. Is there a website or a download where you can watch live tv like Disney and Discovery channel?
i don’t know of any downloads or sites but you could invest in a USb TV tuner card. It will turn your laptop into a TV and DVR.
I have a HP Pavilion mx703 Windows XP desktop computer.
I was wondering how I could watch movies from my computer on my television.
I heard it has something to do with S-VIdeo. My television has an S-video, but my computer does not.
Any help will be appreciated…..
I could not find that model number specified as anything other than just a monitor but depending on what connections you have out of your PC and into your TV, you could use S-Video or just your VGA. Or again a combo cable such as VGA to S-Video.
Preferbely Cox TV with disney, mtv, nickelodian, fittv, fox, stuff for the whole family.
A local computer shop can help you install a tv tuner on your computer to set up a media pc.
the cable is connected to both, fits well, the tv is in the correct channel for the HDMI, i set my computer to recognize the screen, it says the tv screen was recognised, everything is fine. ‘cept the tv doesn’t show the computer screen. it’s black.
all it says on the tv is "no input signal"
however, eveything is perfectly connected…am i missing something really important?
First…make sure the computers resolution matches the TV’s native resolution and make sure the video drivers are up-to-date.
If that doesn’t help, then try this: shut down the computer and turn off the TV. Make sure HDMI cable is connected to both, then boot up your computer. Once the computer is ready to go, turn on the TV. Hopefully the computer will recognize the TV this way!
Hope this works for you!
