What is the best tv internet package on Oahu?

Filed under: tv on internet — admin @ 10:21 pm

Currently it is "Surf Pack" with Oceanic Time Warner.

However, in a couple of years, Hawaiian Telcom should be deploying a television service in addition to their phone and DSN service. This should increase competition on island and lower prices all around.

Is there any way to either display your desktop on your TV or stream internet TV shows from fox.com to your TV?

Filed under: tv on internet — admin @ 1:11 am

Besides the obvious way of running a cable. That is not an option. Windows Media Extender does not seem to support hulu or network tv sites yet for streaming so I can’t think of any other way. Boxee may in the future but it’s only in alpha and I’m not sure if there is a windows version out for it. So far it seems like the best option is to buy a laptop or desktop to put close to the TV, but I was hoping for a more inexpensive option. Thanks!

Free TV internet sites while outside of US?

Filed under: tv on internet — admin @ 3:16 am

I’m studying abroad in Japan and am looking for some good sites or methods by which I can watch some free TV shows on the internet. I’ve found a few but then, because I’m outside of the US, it won’t let me watch them. Know any that will work outside of the US? Doesn’t have to be brand new. Just preferably whole seasons’ worth and either drama or comedy such as Grey’s Anatomy, Heroes, Family Guy, Friends, Frasier, The Office…

Thanks

I live in Australia and watch pretty much everything on http://surfthechannel.com/cat/61406.html

How can I watch internet tv (like hulu, megavideo, etc) on my television without connecting my tv to my pc?

Filed under: tv on internet — admin @ 1:23 am

Is there another device I can buy to connect to the internet? I have a blueray player that connects with netflix but I would like connect to the internet without having to plug in my pc everytime.

You could hook up a PS3 or XBox 360, but that’s as good as connecting your PC to your TV. There’s no way you can do it without comparable equipment to your PC. It’s actually really easy to hook a computer up to a TV, so long as it has a VGA input or some other comparable input.

Filed under: tv on internet — admin @ 1:57 am

Ya is it a viable alternative to cable? What do i need to make use of it I have Vista Premium I think, it’s not ultimate edition I dont think. So what accesories do I need to use this? And will it still work if I get rid of cable and use a broadband internet card?

Yes get broadband and video card, then get a hdmi dvi cable to hook it up to your tv and tada you have internet tv :) you can watch movies at http://www.linkavich.com and you can request movies/shows and they will find them for you without stupid surveys or pop ups.

How can I watch/stream internet tv from my internet connection and watch it on my Tv?

Filed under: tv on internet — admin @ 2:16 am

I live in an apartment building facing a side where I cant hook up a satellite dish and watch it. I want to watch international tv, and im aware of some people who have some types of recievers that are plugged into the computer and into the television. What would my best bet be?

you can easily get streaming satellite over the internet. You don’t need a satellite dish, receiver, or any cable or satellite service a. All you need is an high speed internet connection (broadband) and a computer. however to be able to watch on your tv screen you will need a PC with a video out and the right cable which is available at all computer store. you also need a software. I would recommend the one below as it will enable you to get over 3000 channels and from as many as 78 countries.

Sony Bravia TV Internet Link Bolt On- Is It Any Good?

Filed under: tv on internet — admin @ 7:57 am

I saw that my Sony Bravia flat screen TV sells and add on internet link that is supposed to allow you to browse the web from your TV. It sells I think for $250 or something– seems like a lot. Is it worth it? I also have a playstation and a Wii attached. Does it give me any additional benefit or since I have these gaming stations attached is it repetitive? What exactly does the internet link bolt on allow? My thanks.

You are gonna need to ask sony about that because i cant directly answer that question. If they say it allows you to browse the internet on your tv, i mean sony doesnt usually go around lying.

But i can answer the playstation and wii part of the question. It would operate completely independent of both of those devices. They each have internal wireless adapters built in that will connect to your router, or ethernet ports to connect wired.

If that internet link has an ethernet out to send internet it might work. In either case it would still be connecting to your router. It would be better to connect the wii or playstation directly to the router than to connect them to the link device then the router.

Best Cable TV/Internet company?! not too expansive?

Filed under: tv on internet — admin @ 9:46 am

I am a college student who is planning on moving into an apartment with 3 other students. we are looking for the cheapest and the best internet offered. not too much concern on the cable tv but we do want more than basic channels.

We have Bright House Networks, they are a pretty decent company in regards to customer service (well, with my area in Tampa) …

Verizon Fios TV / Broadband, from what I’ve heard, is decent. I’d get pricing from DBS (Satellite Co’s - DTV and Dish Network), Cable Co, and Verizon. Call each and see what type of promotional pricing they’ll give you then go with the lowest price.

On the Internet connection, RoadRunner is decent and I haven’t had much downtime. If you can, try to go for a Triple-Play Bundle, which includes cable phone, internet connection, and digital cable television, usually for around $99, depending on how much competition you have in your new apartment for these services.
