Playing Games from your computer on your TV bad?
First off, I would like to address, i’m pretty computer retarded, so with that out of the way…
I recently bought a new computer, and my monitor is broke. I was curious if it was hard on the machine or the TV to play games and what not on it. I have a 42" Vizio TV. Thanks!
>My answer to your question is NO, it is not "bad" to play games on your TV if you are satisfied with the performance. So "bad" is a relative measure of satisfaction. What might not satisfy me may well be more than you were expecting as far as performance is concerned. There are limitations with TV screens vrs LCD monitors. The key really is in the interface between the computer and the TV monitor. Obviously, if you have 1080P you are going to be way ahead of the game itself…but beyond that, is the HDTV capability of the video card itself. If you have a lousy video capability, it doesn’t matter how good your TV screen is. And if you have a lousy HD converter on your computer, it doesn’t matter how good your video card or your TV is. So the key to answering your question is 1). How good of a video capability does your computer have and … 2). Do you have a top notch HD converter capability and 3). Is your TV capable of 1080P? Without knowing any of the answers, since you didn’t provide the detail, how can we guess what you can do? I think you have to look at what you have and determine what will work on it and if it won’t, buy something better that will. When you get to the point when it is the best you can get, that is all you can get, right? And maybe that is better than good, or bad at best…it all depends on what you have.

do i have to pay a tv license fee, if i watch tv programs on my computer?
sry im in the uk
I’m guessing you are in the UK since most other countries do not have a TV License fee, but next time please do not assume the responders will know where you are from, always indicate your location when asking questions on an international forum.
From the BBC:
"You need a TV licence to use any television receiving equipment – such as a TV set, set-top box, video or DVD recorder, ***computer*** or mobile phone – to watch or record TV programmes as they are being shown on TV."
AND
"Many TV channels are now available to watch over the internet. If you’re watching programmes on a computer or laptop as they’re being shown on TV, then you need a TV Licence. However, you don’t need to be covered by a licence if you’re only using ‘on-demand’ services to watch programmes after they have been shown on TV. So, you need a licence to watch any channel live online, but you wouldn’t need one to use BBC iPlayer to catch up on an episode of a programme you missed, for example."
Note: If you only use the computer to watch programs on-demand (not live) you do not require a license. A license is required when the computer operates like a TV and it is able to receive a broadcast.

My TV turns on on its own, Am I haunted?
the other night i was on my computer and my TV turns on to one of those fuzzy channels. I go turn it off, I sit back down in my chair and the TV turns on by itself again, I get up and turn it off yet again. I sit back down and the stupid TV turns on AGAIN! so I turned it off and went to bed. Then my sister’s alarm clock goes off and she hits the snooze button. then i hear that beeping fuzzy noise from the TV again so I get up and turn it off, and run back to bed as fast as i can. That’s when my dog comes running in and sits on my feet and WILL NOT get off. then she sits up straight and her ears went down all the way and she just sat there on my bed and stared at the door for about an hour and a half.Am I being haunted?

Could be your TVs have timers on them - or possibly faulty switches - or a neighbour’s remote is on the same frequency as yours - or maybe you’re just dreaming the whole thing.
Having unplugged all of your TVs (YOUR WORDS) it’s not physically possible that they will then turn themselves back on so come on, do us all a favour and come out of this trance.

How to watch movies from my computer on my non-HDMI TV?
I have a Dell Studio laptop which comes equipped with an HDMI port, eSATA port, VGA port, USB port, and DisplayPort. My TV is not equipped with an HDMI port or any of these other ones. I think I need to buy an RCA cable that hooks up to one of these ports on the other end, but I don’t know which to use for it to work. I do not have an HD TV (it’s a Sony FD Trinitron WEGA). What will work for me?
If you just want video and no audio, you can use a VGA to RCA cable like this one:
http://sewelldirect.com/pc-to-tv.asp
If you want video and audio, you will need to convert HDMI to RCA with something like this:

How could I kitten proof my Computer/Game room?
I mostly need suggestions on how to hide the wires, because I have tons of them..
And none of them can go. I have my TV, Computer and Game Station plugged up, with electric cords running in every direction, and the kitten will be able to roam in those areas, because they’re quite wide. I have a bunch of them rubber-banded together tightly, but they’ll still be able to chew on them if they try.
During over 40 years of cat companions, I’ve had a few wire chewers and many who just didn’t care. First, find out which kind you have. Some cats simply have no interest in chewing wires. Others are hard to stop.
If you have a wire chewer, the only sure way to protect your wires (other than to exclude the cat from the room) is to enclose them in something non-chewable. A popular option is to use drip irrigation pipe slit lengthwise. Ugly, but it works. Double-sided sticky tape (this is usually the kind with styrofoam in the middle) discourages most cats. Everything else I’ve heard about is even uglier.
Good luck if you have a wire chewer. It’s a challenge.

How to play music or TV in one room and listen on speakers in another room?
I have bought some MP3 DVDs with some audiobooks on for my mother who likes to listen to her audiobooks in the kitchen. They have to be played on the DVD player in the lounge or on her computer in the bedroom. Are there any affordable wireless speakers that I could place in the kitchen that would pick up and play the audio from the TV computer or stereo in another room. Would be grateful for any audio experts who can give me some tips.
