Filed under: tv on my computer — admin @ 4:48 pm

i have a port on both my tv and computer but i don’t know which channel or setting to put my tv/computer on so i can watch movies from my laptop on my tv. please please please help me!

you will need to find a "source" or "input" button on your remote and select the input/source you have plunged you HDMI cable into. They should be all numbered. On you laptop you will need to press Windows key and "P" and select "projector only" assuming you have windows 7.

Can my computer support HD on my TV?

Filed under: tv on my computer — admin @ 5:01 am

I am getting the Samsung 55inch 6300 (tv) and i was wondering if my computer can support this tv i wonna be able to watch movies/play games in hd thru my computer if not what do i need to get? thanks in advance.. here is my computer specs

Processor ( Intel® Core™ i7 920 Processor (4x 2.66GHz/8MB L3 Cache) )
Motherboard ( Asus P6T — Intel X58 Chipset CrossFire and SLI Supported w/7.1 Sound, Triple-Channel DDR3, Gb LAN, S-ATA Raid, USB 2.0, 3-Way SLI PCI-E MB - 3-Way SLI )
Memory ( 6 GB [2 GB X3] DDR3-1333 Triple Memory Module - Corsair Value or Major Brand )
Video Card ( NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 – 1GB - SLI Mode (Dual Cards) )
ower Supply ( 1000 Watt — Corsair CMPSU-1000HX Power Supply - Quad SLI Ready )
Processor Cooling ( CoolerMaster V8 CPU Cooling Fan System )
Video Card Brand ( === High Performance === EVGA Brand Video Cards [SLI enabled] Powered by NVIDIA )
Primary Hard Drive ( 1 TB HARD DRIVE - [16M Cache, 7200 RPM, 3.0Gb/s] )
Operating System ( Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium

As long as your vid card have DVI just get what’s called a DVI to HDMI adapter and you should be rocking! The vid card should state on it HDCP, this mean high def complaint or capable. Nevertheless check with where ever you get the card(s) from. usually the cards that have this adapter are more than likely true HD cards.Being safe than sorry: Anything at or over 512 MB type cards can normally handle it without a problem so long as they are EVGA, BFG, or Diamond. Do not go with an off brand like sparkle,or inland. PNY are usually toss ups I’ve had cards not do it so return it and try another only to find that card does do it.

If i burn pictures from my computer to a CD, would i be able to view it on my TV via DVD PLAYER?

Filed under: tv on my computer — admin @ 7:51 am

If you make sure all the picts are in jpeg format; and on some DVD players it is better if the picts are on the root of the disk, most modern DVD players will display the pictures as a slide show.

thanks for help.
i said the dizzy effect dont last event 20 seconds.
i just ate.

Drink lots of water
Eat regularly
Stand up and stretch and move your body around at least every 30 mins
You may have postural hypotension - this is when you stand up quickly after sitting for a long time and all the blood rushes to the lower part of your body and your blood pressure drops. Your body fixes this pretty quickly but it makes you feel yukky for a little while.

Otherwise you can get a type of motion sickness from playing games.

How can I connect Netflix from my computer to my Blueray player?

Filed under: tv on my computer — admin @ 11:38 pm

I have Netflix on my computer and I want to be able to dicplay the movies on my TV. I have a Blueray player connected to my TV that has a HDMI port. I bought a HDMI cord and connected them but I still cant get the movies to show on my television. Help Please!!!

1) Your Blu-ray player will say on the box if it supports Netflix, so I’d check. It it does support it, there should be a Netflix option on the Blu-ray player’s menu.

2) You’ll have to connect it online (to a high-speed connection) in order to use Netflix. There’s two ways to do this: wired and wireless. With wired, you’ll need to run an ethernet cable from your Blu-ray player to your modem. With wireless, you’ll need to have your modem connected to a router and have a wireless network set up. To connect the Blu-ray player, you either A) need to buy a wireless adapter (the entry to mid-range players tend to make you do this) and then go through the network settings and get connected, or B) go directly the network settings on your Blu-ray player and get connected (this is only if your Blu-ray player has built-in wi-fi so you don’t need an adapter).

3) You should be good to go. If not, check out Netflix’s website to try to find a solution to get it going.

What would be healthy amount of time for tv/video games/computer usage per day for a child?

Filed under: tv on my computer — admin @ 8:03 pm

I have 10 and 14 year old stepsons. They "never" do anything with friends, and I dont even know if they have "any".They are not involved with any extracurricular activities, and when they have been, they have been "very" limited, and they have never stuck with them "very"long. They get a minimal amount of physical activity and have free reign over the food and snacks of the house,95% of which are nothing but junk. They prefer to stay inside, and spend upwards of 5 hours a day in front of xbox,tv and computer on school days.On weekends and vacations, even in the summer, they wake up at 7/ 8:00 in the morning, and rotate between tv, computer, and video games until they go to bed usually by 10 pm,unless my wife forces them to ride somewhere with her once or twice a week for a couple hours. Is this acceptable? My wife says its completely normal and she sees nothing wrong. If i say she should try to limit this usage to a degree,i get lashed out at called a psycho just for merely mentioning it.Would appreciate some advice.

I know the feeling! My SKs get (nearly) free reign of the TV/computer/VG when they’re here which sucks because they aren’t here that often! We’ve been discussing limiting it and making them do *other* things, though - because sitting here watching them glued to screens for their entire visit isn’t what either of us consider "quality family time".

I was thinking for their evening visits that 1 hr combined for computer & video game usage, and 1-2 hrs most for TV, or *one* movie, whichever is shorter. (So if they wanted to check their e-mail and then have a "family movie night" after dinner or whatever.)

All-day engagments (such as weekends) I was thinking 2 hrs combined for computer/video game usage, maybe one before dinner and one after dinner. With 2-3 hrs TV (movies included) MAXIMUM. Seriously - bring some toys over, read a book, color, do crafts, play with the dog, go to the park, spend time with friends, play in the back yard, board games, card games - anything but sitting in front of a screen all day!!!

How do I get sound from my computer to my TV?

Filed under: tv on my computer — admin @ 3:28 pm

I am using an S-Video cable to connect my PC to my TV and transfer my computer images to my television. I play videos from the internet (hulu, etc.) on my television. However, there is no sound from my TV when I do this - only from my computer speakers. What cable should I use to connect my computer to my television so the sound will also play on my TV?

you’ll need an 1/8" sterio to RCA converter which will give you the red and white cables that will hook up to your tv’s inputs. the 1/8" part goes in to you headphone jack on the laptop.

Hope this helps

Can my cat actually see & watch my TV/computer screen?

Filed under: tv on my computer — admin @ 1:40 pm

Today, I decided to play around with my cat, so I went on YouTube and started playing cricket noises, and she started getting alarmed.
So then I decided to play a video with a collab of cats meowing, and I showed it to my cat on full screen.
She looked at it, and started to actually growl!

I also showed her this video –
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z3U0udLH974&feature=related
She kept looking back and forth at the two cats.

So can she actually see what’s going on on the screen?

Yes the cat can - if you look up videos on you tube you would see that some videos that people play the nintendo wii and the cat will follow the clicker - so it could be the same for that to - i found that video when i was searching music videos im guessing it was in the wrong section as well - it thinks the clicker is its prey so it stalks it probably the same with the youtube video and the moving cats.

When i burn my pics onto a cd or memory stick for use on either tv or photo frame they become…?

Filed under: tv on my computer — admin @ 10:04 pm

…stretched . Help
The pics I have on my computer are from 2 different cameras. When I burn them to a cd to view on the tv they come out stretched . The same goes when I put the pics onto a memory stick for my photo frame.

The medium has nothing to do with the distortion you’re seeing. Most digital cameras take pictures with a different aspect ratio - the ratio of width to height - than a TV set or digital picture frame will display full screen.

You have a couple of options. In the case of a digital picture frame, you can set it up to display the image without stretching to fill the display. The picture will thus be undistorted, but you will have black bands to the top and bottom, or to the sides, of the picture. Your DVD player may have a similar option for displaying stills, but this would vary from model to model

Your second option is to use a photo editor to crop the pictures before downloading them to CD or flash drive. You can do this with many applications, including the Paint applet that comes with Windows. When you bought your camera, you probably got some software that will do the job. However, the application I recommend most often for this kind of job is irfanview, a free application that simplifies many image management tasks. Unlike many other applications, it has a small memory and disk footprint, and does not come bundled with a lot of other garbageware. You can get it here: http://www.irfanview.com

A standard TV set (not HD) has a 4:3 aspect ratio. This translates into a number of common resolutions such as 640X480, 800X600, or 1024X768. Reducing and/or cropping your pictures to one of these resolutions should make it acceptable for display without distortion.
