im looking for a device that can make it possible to watch movie files from pc to tv. i am currently using my xbox 360 to watch movies from my pc. but now i need another similar device that works the same. even better if i could use my external harddrive and plus directly to it.

I want to "legally" purchase (download) movies on my pc and watch them on my HDTV.
One issue is that I do not have a TV Out port on my video card.
Also, my HDTV is in the other room, approx 40′ away.
It would also be nice to hook up my X-box to internet. So would a Ethernet Cable (Cat-5, blue) allow me to do this as long as I had the correct output from the pc?

you can get a router to hook up your computer and xbox and you are going to have to buy a better video card to connect to your video card…but what you can do is hook up your pc with your 360 so that you can acces the movies from the media center.

There seems to be alot of websites claiming for $30-$50 you can get PV TV however I’m afraid of downloading without knowing if they are legit. Does anyone have any knowledge about a legit website or what you can do to get TV on your PC? Thanks for your help!

I have a tv tuner on my pc. I use windows media center to watch tv and was wondering if i could use another media center software and watch another channel at same time. Like run both of them at same time. If its possible what other software do i need?

You won’t be able to watch multiple shows at once, no matter what you do, if you install another program to watch live TV it will conflict with your other program that’s using the TV Tuner. But what I think you are looking for is the ability to record more then 1 show at once. You can do this with Windows Media Center but you also need an additional TV tuner. To record 2 shows at once, or record one show and watch another at the same time, 2 tuners are required. Just get an identical Tuner like you have now, install it and run through the Media Center setup and you should be good to go. If for some reason you don’t have enough PCI/PCIe slots on your PC, you can purchase a dual TV Tuner card, two tuners built into the 1 card.

Your tuner card should have come with software that has a tv tuner/capture feature on it. Start the software, set the right settings and you should be good to go.
