Before you spend any money on tools here’s something to get you going

Type in your zip code and the satellite provider you are planing on using and it will tell you what direction to point to.. you need a compass $8.
you must have a clear view to the sky in front of the location of the satellite dish.

Satellite Installer Professional is one the best guides I’ve used on field (and back at home) to install my own TV dish. Written by a pro, it has manuals and videos to guide you through the whole process. It’s quite simple once you get the hang of the basics.
