There is good and bad. The quality is good if you have a good internet connection and bad if your internet connection is not up to the mark. It is good if you also want international channels, but bad in the sense that you may not find all the channels that you like (you should make a point to check the catalog and ensure you like what you get before your buy this).

Here is a list of some better satellite TV software packages:

If you mean that software which allegedly lets you watch TV from all over the place for one cost, no. It just has craps streams of low value stuff, which are free anyways. The good stuff they cannot legally offer.
References :
Well, I believe it totally depends on your requirements, lifestyles and frequency of use.
In many cases satellite TV will be worthless, as it is just an extra accessory, a luxury of a type; - that is when you already have tv sets in your ommon indoor hangout places eg the drawing room, tv lounge and bedroom.
In the case you live in an apartment with a housemate who is more dominant with the remote and you don't get to watch your choice of tv, then you may find it useful on you pc.
If in case your question is about the quality of telecast and program list, then i would say its definitely good, you have more choice, more flexible programing and in most services the transmission quality is also enjoyable. Hence well, first write down why would you use a Satellite tv on your computer and then how you can do without it. If the list of pros exceed then you know what to do. Best of luck! Salam.
