  1. no not worth it unless you like to watch tv in other countries, or in the US local access tv like PBS or educational programs, it’s not like you can watch Monk on USA or Law and Order SVU on NBC

  3. Step 1
Connect a TV tuner card or similar video capture card to your computer. Such cards can be either external or internal. An internal capture card is installed into an available PCI card slot in the computer, while an external card is connected through a USB connection.

    Step 2
Install the software program included with the card, which is on the included CD-ROM. This disc has the software needed to install the drivers for the card onto the computer. It will also include an application that allows you to view the TV stations on the computer.

    Step 3
Connect the satellite receiver box’s video output to the tuner card. This will likely use RCA-style video cables (component or composite) or S-video cables. Make sure the receiver is connected to the satellite antenna, and either the box or the computer’s sound card is connected to speakers.

    Step 4
Turn on the satellite box and open the TV application that was installed with the capture card’s drivers. Tune the tuner card to the correct channel for an external device like a cable/satellite box (check the card’s manual for the exact channel). Look for the satellite TV signal to appear on the application’s screen.
