You can't connect the optical from the sat box to the TV!! The TV's optical connection is OUTPUT only. You need to connect the sat optical out to the optical input in an AV receiver.

To get audio to the TV, either use an AV receiver or connect the audio cables from the sat box to the TV.
References :
This sounds like it is your cable set up. These cables are your red white and yellow cables and plugs. You might not have one plugged in or plugged in all the way, OR one of the plugs went bad on either your sat receiver or your tv. THe only other thing it could be is the cable itself is bad. Hope this helps
References :
The problem is likely a cable. Audio and visual cables have seperate plugs, and wires too, although they are often combined. check all connections from ur sat to box, and box to tv. Alternatives are bad reception, so wait, or something is wrong with the tv speakers, which is sadly a call to the repair guy
