Such activities pursued during the pre-television time were often spent inventing the television.
The good, quaint people also spent time together, with neighbors and friends.
Additionally, they rutted like mad pigs in the fields.
References :
Dr.Rockrod PHD

TV has been part of mywhole life. I'm 42. But cell phones and the internet came much later. Well, we just couldn't call with the level of ease as now. And it was sort of nice, because someone didn't know where you were at every minute of every day. You could go incommunicado. THe internet is handy. But we actually went and paid bills or MAILED them. And for information, we schleped to the LIBRARY and used ENCYCLOPEDIA's. There was no email. But there was airmail!

Lets just say things are much easier with the cell phone and the internet. Now TV? WE could scrap that crap now.
References :
People listened to the radio. Back then the programming was more comprehensive with news, discussion, comedy and mystery shows.
References :
Its a fallacy to think that the world is somehow more unified and utopian with the development of technology, on the contrary, man is more isolated from his own society than ever before, before people had actual real life communitties, face to face interaction, story telling, etc. All the things that t5echnology is trying to duplicate today.
References :
Maybe it was more exciting than today. because the people who lived in the past they had writing lots of books and magazines. therefore the people could spend their time by reading some books or newspapers. but technology has a lots of improvements and advantages that you can't ever imagine and count them. For example the life standard is increasing nowadays by the scientists' research. at the past the popular illnesses was came accrossing was tuberculosis. but now it's cancer. i think it can cause on by these technological improvement. but we can prevent ourselves by using them carefully and conscious. in addition we can prevent our eye health like this because of the screens.
but we must have spend a time with the world(globally world forever :) )
References :
my ideas. hope it's helpful. good luck:)

I asked my grandpa this once. It depends where you lived. If you lived on a farm, your day was usually occupied with chores and the daily rituals required to put food on the table and survive. After sundown people usually rested from the toils of the day and sat on the porch chatting, reading books, or doing things like crochet and knitting.

In the suburbs, kids spent most of the day outdoors since there was little indoors to keep them occupied. They'd play games with the neighborhood kids and build treehouses and whatnot. Families usually ate together in the evening and actually talked about their days since there were no TVs to distract everyone. Then the adults would do things like manage their finances, write letters or mail bills, and listen to radio shows. The women, if they didn't work, would take care of household duties which weren't as simple as they are today since few people have dishwashers and other modern conveniences that free up so much of our time.

Visiting neighbors and having card games or conversation were popular.

On the weekends, families got out of the house and went to social engagements, church functions, the movies, etc.
References :
I still cherish the little time I have to read. I don't mean read out of an e-book or e-reader, but literally a tangible book. I wish more people did that.

I also find the problem with technology is that people now demand instantaneous responses. If you don't get back to them within 15 minutes, it's like you're rude or you don't care or you're giving bad service. I find that with the advancements in technology, people have lost their patience and courtesy.
