Your SCORE is not available without paying, or signing up for a ‘free trial’ of some ’service’ for which you will eventually be charged.

Everyone is allowed to check their credit report once a year for free or at anytime they have been denied credit. This you can do through experian.com, equifax.com, and truecredit.com. These are the three credit bureaus. Generally you can go through the process with one and they will automatically notify the others, although this doesn’t always work. These three sites are secure and free and are not an outside agency trying to to it on your behalf. I’d recommend checking all 3. Some creditor only report to one or two and you may not see everything (good or bad) if you only check one. It will give you an option to print out your report or to have it sent to you. Make sure you check everything to make sure it is up to date and it all belongs to you.

As for your credit score… no. It costs no matter what. usually about $7 if I recall. You can request it from any of these 3 sites as well. Keep in mind that this number can vary slightly from one to the next. Usually only within 5 points or so. Some credit cards will offer a credit monitoring service that you can cancel at the end of a freebie offer, but even that is generally an outside agency under contract with the credit card company.
