Look for the "obvious".If the factory I/O ports allow the hookup,then you should be in buisnees as far as hardware is concerned,Software might be a different story.Be careful about using adapters !

if you have an hd cable box then any monitor will work. if you want to plug a coax in, you should buy a tv with hdmi/vga/dvi inputs to also use as a monitor

Of course.

Computer monitors that are HDCP-compliant can be connected directly to a digital HD cable box, because a digital HD cable box has either a DVI or HDMI output.

When you do that, you turn the computer monitor into an HDTV.
